Melissa found out August 2019 that she had high blood pressure.  She is married with a 14 year old son who she describes as “her heart”. Awww! This was the shock that she needed to get motivated to get into fitness – she was terrified of the thought that she might not be around for her. So she got medication for her blood pressure and adopted a positive mindset, found the tribe and Gina and got on board!

Just start.  Once you start, know it’s not an instant fix..

Melissa’s #upBEattribe Journey

Why did you start your health journey?

I found out Aug of last year that I had high blood pressure.  I’m married and we have a son to be 14 year old son… He’s my heart.  It scared me thinking that I might not be here for him, so I had to change… No looking back. So, after getting in meds for the BP and getting a new mindset, I’m on my way!! I also suggest an app to track food, exercise, etc asking with Gina and walking.  No diets… Just better choices!!

How did you find UTTB and what impact has it had on your health journey?

I found UTTB at the beginning of this year and it was a complete game changer for my fitness routine. No longer did I begrudgingly go to workout, I looked forward to working out because Gina B made it not only tolerable but FUN! I do her walks or her walking style daily.

My Favourite #upBEattribe Workout?

Abba!

What wins I’ve celebrated (scale and non-scale victories)?

Wanted to share my progress… This is from today’s checkup. I went  Oct of last year and these were some of my numbers… Weight 182. BMI 32.2.  Body Fat 39.9%. Waist Circumference 39 inches. TODAY… Weight 134. BMI 24.3.   Body Fat 29.7%. Waist Circumference 30 inches!!!!

A piece of advice I can offer to someone starting their fitness journey is…

Its definitely a journey and a lifestyle change, so don’t be discouraged.  You’ll mess up. It’s ok. Tomorrow is a new day, so keep on keeping on!
